WIP February 2

Hey guys second WIP of February is all about my Skaven. I started painting some more stormvermin and had a little conversion/green-stuff adventure with my warlock engineer. As you can see from the picture above are two stormvermin already finished, I have painted them in the same colors as my warlord which you can see at the left. I also started painting three other stormvermin but I have only painted the base and did a little base coating on two of them.

Alright now comes the warlock engineer, as you might now am I not a real hero when it comes to green stuff but I am pretty happy with the results on this guy.

I used the body and backpackthing from the iob warlock engineer and added arms from the stormvermin kit, I will use this guy as a lv2 with warp-energy condenser. As you can see from the pictures I have used green-stuff to connect the shoulderpads with the main armor and I sculpted the other half of his leg armor. I didn't like the shield he was standing on so I removed most of it. Original this mini is placed on a base with a groove so he had a piece of plastic beneath his feet, I remove this slanting so his right feet would be standing higher then his left one. I used some cork to make a little rock on his base and than used glue and green-stuff to attach him to the base, this will be hided with some sand befor he gets undercoated. with the pointing arm and him standing half on he rock it have to look like he is about to cast Wraplighting witch will be his main job in every game I am going to play with him.

Hope you like them & keep on happy painting!

WIP February 1

A fresh and cleaned up workplace for February!

Hey guys it has been a bit quiet here before last week, more about that will be explained later this post. The most important thing is that I am back with a fresh start and I want to put some more of my live into my blogpost. Don't worry it won't be all drama about everything that is going wrong in my opinion but I want to get a little closer with my hobby activities to the readers and add a bit humor to my post. So you can aspect more of those workstation pics and some "pretend to be funny" captions.

Alright up to the WIP part of this post because I have already been talking so long here are some pictures;

I started painting the displaybase for my goblin shaman project I have started with the grey rocks that form my little cave. nothing real special mostly big brushes work, I tried to paint it so it looks like there is less light the further you are looking in to the cave, so I started with a dark-grey-brownish color and work my way up to light grey. As you might have seen from the picture I started this post with, am I making pictures of every step that I undertake to paint this piece. And In the post(see link a bit above) where I first showed you this protect I already told you that I have taken pictures of ever step making the displaybass. So to make 1 + 1 a full step by step tutorial how to make and paint this display base will be made after I finished the project.

The other mini that was on my workstation last week is this high elf mage for my high elf army. I repainted him to fit in with my new color scheme and I am very happy with the result is wasn't a real hard or long job but one that had to be done and now my high elf army is one painted mini richer (you can see the first version here)

To continue where I have started this post with, the reason that I haven't be doing a lot of hobby related stuff last weeks has a couple of reason first of all I was very busy with school (Yes again that one excuse!) I had a lot of products to make (aka AutoCAD-drawings a couple of reports and a tender document) and I have arranged a internship that starts next Monday.

Furthermore I have discover a new hobby, I have always love good electronic music(great to listen to while painting!) and I wanted to make some beats myself. So after trying out a demo version I have bought a program called FL-studio and now am working on a remix for a remix competition but hopefully more about that in the next week for now;

Keep on happy painting!

New year, new project & 10K pageviews

Hey guys before I start the post I would like to say that we have passed 10000 pageviews yesterday!! Since the first day of this year which I started with the happy new year post  pageviews are hitting the blog like crazy. counts of 500 at one day are now normal, last Saturday we even had 1000 pageviews on one day and yeah that made me quite happy :). These numbers must be an earlier sign of an awesome year that is going to follow!

Alright with that being said we can go to the real work, as you can see from the post title have I started a new project, the idea had be in my mind for quite a long time and 2 weeks ago I couldn't wait anymore and started working. But before I show you the pictures I want to warn you that I have promised myself to first finish Sicarius(who is quite dusting away now) before I go on with this project so an update can take a couple of weeks. here is what I am working on:

When GW came with the plastic goblin shaman I knew I had to paint it one day and with the miniature being just 8 euro it was quite a cheap kit from GW so I bought it. I had the idea in mind to place him in a cave and this what I have came up with, the base is made out of wood, cork, clay and some sculpted mushrooms(I am going to add sand before he gets undercoated). Till now I have made a photo of every step I have made to make the base and I want to continue with that while painting so when this badboy is finished you can aspect and whole step by step tutorial on how to make and paint him.

Keep on happy painting!

WIP December 1

Well it has been a while but I am back with a new WIP post for this month, as you can see I haven't made a lot progress the last three weeks. I got sick two weeks ago so could't paint for like a week and after that I had a lot of work for school and a little motivation to paint, a really bad combination! Last two days I have worked some more on sicarius his display base and it has been finished now. I went for a quit quick and dirty paint job on the base this to draw the eye to the miniature standing atop it. some more picture's;

Hope you like it & keep on happy painting!

WIP November 3

Hey guys 3th WIP post for November already(we're doing good!) and I have some more progress on Captain Sicarius for you, also there have been some little changes to the layout of the blog yesterday, I have rewritten the "about me" text and added a picture to my blog tittle(the same as I use for my profile). I hope you have seen these little changes and like them feedback about them is always welcome!

Alright up to the painting part, as you can see from the picture above I have painted some more details on Sicarius his  main body, I only have to do the golden eagle on his right shoulder... and I got some idea's for free-hands and symbols on his cloak. Talking about the cloak, as you might see I have made the inner cloak a bit brighter because it looked better in my opinion. (You can see how it looked like before here)

Just to go on about his cloak, I tried another way of painting red than I usually do on this model, I started with a dark brown base coat, blended red in to get some kind of "dark cherry red" and from that I blended my highlights to bright red. I am very happy with the result and mixing the dark brown with red also gave me new idea's about painting blood.

Last post you saw a WIP picture of  his display base, lats weekend I have added sand to the base and undercoated it. After that I dry brushed the base with P3 Greatcoat grey and old citadel codex gray to get a view on the shadows and brighter pieces, anyway it looks way better then the pre-build from last post, below are a picture and one for size compering to the model.(the wood has been covered with tape for undercoating and the painting process)

WIP November 2

Hey guys quick WIP update for today, I am working on a display base for Sicarius and this is what I have made yesterday. (you have to do it with these phone pics :P)

Of course needs the base some sand to finish the whole thing and then we can go to the painting part, I am really looking forward to that because I want to try out some other ways of painting to make the base look more realistic.

Next update will have more eye candy I promise!
Keep on happy painting!

WIP November 1

Hey guys this post was actually planned for last week but there was a little delay because somebody sawed in my finger(I didn't even do it myself!) and yeah that made painting a little harder. So here are some pics from what is going on on my desk. I am working on my High elf spearman for my high elf army again and they are almost finished, I only have to do the banner, shields and the champion.

Keep on happy painting! and don't let anybody saw in your fingers.. :P

WIP October 1

Hey guys it has been a while but here are the first WIP pictures for October. We start with Sicarius, I have worked on the gold trims on his power armor and I started with the inner cloak. The inner cloak will get some kind of a free hand pattern (probably ultramarines symbols) which I will paint in white. The cloak has a little green tone and I am still doubting if I keep it like this or make it more khaki, what do you think about it?

I also started working on his hand that holds the sword, I really like to paint this kind of big marines hands because it quite easy to highlight them but if you build you highlights careful up the effect will be real good.

Furthermore I have painted another stormvermin, doing these guys really reminds me that I have to put some more time into my warhammer armies, winter is coming and that is the time me and my friends play most of or warhammer games and yeah I want to have some painted models for that. I am still thinking about adding battle damage to the red armor because it is kinda flat this way.

Keep on happy painting!

Late September WIP's

Hey guys some WIP shots from what I have down yesterday. Because of my internship and again a busy weekend I have made a little progress on Sicarius but I also started something new what is still a kind of "secret project" but more about that later this post. First of all why I had a busy weekend, well Saturday was my birthday and I am now 17 years old! Already getting the first grey hairs.. nah just kidding :P So my parents arranged my first driving lesson that day, your all warned another danger on the road has been born!

Furthermore my internship takes a lot of my free time, I am doing well and I really enjoy it to be working in the civil engineering/road building but making all the reports and other stuff for school is quite boring. Also it is quite a pain to make these while staring at your still not finished projects, but yeah I have to keep working for school because there is a deadline at the end of this week and I still have some(read lots of) stuff to do.

Alright enough of my personal drama for this post let go to the hobby part; As you might understand from the post title I want to make monthly based WIP post with progress form several project, simply because variation keeps me going and it gives you my dear readers and followers some more eye candy every post. so here we go:

Captain Sicarius

As you can see I have done some more detail on Captain Sicarius, I am really happy with the results of the purplish-red ribbons with the golden ultramarines symbols the ended up exactly as I wanted them to be and they fall good in combination with the blue armor and green details. I also started on some gold, the patience I had with the glazing really pays off even when I am now only halve way. I am wondering about making a tutorail on how to paint gold like this so maybe that will be the next post!? (I have already done a tutorial for painting golden armor you can check it out here)

The secret project
I am not going to tell you a lot about this one, I got two pictures and I one you can find I kinda big hint for the project, but I also have to warn you I could take some time before I get started with this. I got the idea last week and I started doing some research and building but it seems that I need some more stuff/information to get good started so yeah this could be pushed back for a while. anyway here are the pics:

and as always keep on happy painting!

WIP captain sicarius

Hey guys last post you have seen his head and now we got his body, well work in progress body ;) Still quite busy with my internship(and that will continue for some more weeks) so we are making little steps in our progress. Anyway the blue power armor and the green wreath(forgot the real name for this one got something to do with champions) are done. The ultramarines symbol is not painted pure white, I mixed some grey in because I am thinking of painting a kind of zenithal highlighting on it, to give it some more structure. Next up are the golden parts, for this I want to start with a quite light base coat and then use lots of different brown glazes to shade the whole thing down.

Keep on happy painting!

In the grim darkness of the far future there are flying heads

Hey guys small WIP post for today, still busy with my internship and school work for that. But I have started a new project, you might recognize the head it is from captain Sicaris (ultramarines 2nd company captain). Painting it like this is way easier then on the mini, basically because the neck is surrounded by shoulder pads and power armor which makes it real hard too paint every spot good. Personal I like to be able to paint the eyes from every direction and that is kinda hard when there is a full body below the head. some more pics:

Next up: his body and I am thinking of making a tutorial about painting blue power armor.
anyway keep on happy painting!

WIP sea guard

Hey guys, if you have read my review on the army painter brushes you might have seen some details from my next project, a high elf sea guard. Because I don't use these guys in my high elf army I painted one for on a display base. Also this guys was a great opportunity to try out different green blue colors and I used him to improve my true metal skills. Painting the armor was fun but when it comes to the nmm effects on weapons I still have to practice a bit more, somebody who knows a good tutorial?(I am not using an airbrush yet)

Still have to make and paint a display base, I have an idea in mind of a rocky coast line with some smashing waves.

Happy painting! korhain

WIP wood elf spellsinger 2

Hey guys, made some progress on the wood elf spellsinger from last post. Now you might get what I mean with the BOOM effect I tried to made with the clothing. The inner clothing is a lot brighter then the outer clothing witch gives the effect it is "jumping out" (didn't know any other words for that hope you get it or see it :P)

I still have to do the skin parts and here head and of course a display base.

Happy painting! Korhain

WIP wood elf spellsinger

Hey guys! This is the project I talked about a while ago, its a wood elf spellsinger. I really like the pose of this model it gives you the feeling that she is in the middle of casting a spell. I trade this model(with some other wood elves) for the old high elf sword masters when the island of blood set came out, so this is still a metal model wich is way better then failcast in my opinion :P

I want to make the outer clothes dark green and the inner cloths light green so it gives a BOOM effect from the inside, if you get what I mean there :P Also I have something special in mind with here eyes, but more from that later.

Happy painting! korhain
