A better rule based review of the new High Elf army book



My last quick review of the new High Elf army book has been read a lot times last week so I decided to do a better review about the special rules and almost every unit and the noble,prince and mages.




The rules:
Every unit still has ASF also the white lions and swordmasters.
Also every unit has martial prowess which means they can make supporting attacks or shoot in a extra rank, this is cumulative with any other special rule that allows you to fight in an extra rank.
Al the cav units can have "Ithilmar barding" this follows the normal rules for barding but it doesn't give a penalty to the movement.
Lions cloaks are available for characters and it gives a +2 armour save against non magical shooting attacks.
Dragon armour gives you a 5+ armour save, a 6+ ward save and the fireborn special rule with gives you a 2+ ward save against flaming attacks.

characters:
Prince is 10 points cheaper and his bs has gone up to 7
Arcgmage is 40 points cheaper and can now ride a star dragon
Star dragon is 20 points more expensive. All dragons have a strength 4 breath attack.

Noble is 15 points cheaper
Mage is 15 points cheaper

barded steed is 1 point cheaper for Noble and Mage and 3 point more expensive for Arcgmage and Prince.

Units:
FC cost 30 point for all units every option cost 10 points.

spear stay the same
archers are one point cheaper
sea guard are one point cheaper

silvers helms stay the same, ellyrian reavers are one point cheaper and both option (bows or swap spear for bow) are also one both cheaper. Both units are moved to core.

Sword masters and white lions are 2 points cheaper
Phoenix guard stay the same but the 4+ ward save is now a special rule with a name.
lion chariots are 20 points cheaper lost there fear but have stubborn, Tiranic chariot is 15 points cheaper and has a unit size of 1-3.

shadow warriors are 2 points cheaper
Dragon princes are 1 point cheaper may have a magic standard up to 75 point inkstand of 50.
bolt throwers are 30 points cheaper

eagles stay 50 point but are able to buy always strikes first and armour piercing.

New units
sisters of avelorn are strength 4 shooting archers
skycutter is a flying chariot wich can have a bolt thrower(range 24 strength 5 D3 hits) or a sea helm
Phoenixes have a special rule called Attuned to magic which gives them standard a 5+ ward save. When rolling for the winds of magic take the highest D6 result it will have one of the following effects until the casters next magic phase:
1 ward save goes to 6+
2 -1 strength
3 +1 initiative
4 +1 attack
5 +1 strength
6 ward save goes to 4+

Sea helm is a more expensive noble wich can take a BSB but is made to make the skycutter better.
Anointed of asuryan is a 210 points lord wich can ride both phoenixes
loremaster lord is a lv2 mage which uses all the signature spells from the warhammer battle magic.

We have lost a lot of magic items but we got the banner of the world dragon now and that thing is amazing, it cost 50 point and gives the unit that bears him a 2+ ward save against all magic attacks.


for the magic we now have two signature spells a healing spell, a moving spell(extra 10 or 20 inch in magic phase) and 3 different direct damage spells. The signature spells are drain magic and a missile. The lore Attribute is really nice in my opinion it gives a +1(max 3+) on your ward safe to the caster and the unit he is in til the begin of the caster next magic phase.

I know i have promised to finish some skaven and the aspiring champion but today I couldn't resist finishing some more high elf spearmen.
