WIP February 2

Hey guys second WIP of February is all about my Skaven. I started painting some more stormvermin and had a little conversion/green-stuff adventure with my warlock engineer. As you can see from the picture above are two stormvermin already finished, I have painted them in the same colors as my warlord which you can see at the left. I also started painting three other stormvermin but I have only painted the base and did a little base coating on two of them.

Alright now comes the warlock engineer, as you might now am I not a real hero when it comes to green stuff but I am pretty happy with the results on this guy.

I used the body and backpackthing from the iob warlock engineer and added arms from the stormvermin kit, I will use this guy as a lv2 with warp-energy condenser. As you can see from the pictures I have used green-stuff to connect the shoulderpads with the main armor and I sculpted the other half of his leg armor. I didn't like the shield he was standing on so I removed most of it. Original this mini is placed on a base with a groove so he had a piece of plastic beneath his feet, I remove this slanting so his right feet would be standing higher then his left one. I used some cork to make a little rock on his base and than used glue and green-stuff to attach him to the base, this will be hided with some sand befor he gets undercoated. with the pointing arm and him standing half on he rock it have to look like he is about to cast Wraplighting witch will be his main job in every game I am going to play with him.

Hope you like them & keep on happy painting!

Rats on Fire!

Hey guys, I have a little addition to the skaven army today a Wrapfirethrower weaponteam! I painted the base and both rats separately, I liked painting the guy with the barrel on his back the most because of the all the things that are on the barrel like the green tubes and the smoke. The weapon works, just ask there little helper on the base ;)
some more pics;

Showcase Skaven Assassin / Death Master Snikch

Hey guys another addition to my skaven army in person of Death Master Snikch which I use as an assassin. I am really happy with how the base turned out, the empire armor where he is standing on looks old dusted and rusty and that is the effect I was going for. I mostly use this guy in a unit of 9 gutter runners, give the runners poisoned attacks and slings and with there ambushing rule you can use them to sabotage the enemy's artillery. some more pics:

And I have this for you; a hint for what is coming next post it is something that has been WIP a little to long even for my standards :P.

Keep on happy painting!

WIP October 1

Hey guys it has been a while but here are the first WIP pictures for October. We start with Sicarius, I have worked on the gold trims on his power armor and I started with the inner cloak. The inner cloak will get some kind of a free hand pattern (probably ultramarines symbols) which I will paint in white. The cloak has a little green tone and I am still doubting if I keep it like this or make it more khaki, what do you think about it?

I also started working on his hand that holds the sword, I really like to paint this kind of big marines hands because it quite easy to highlight them but if you build you highlights careful up the effect will be real good.

Furthermore I have painted another stormvermin, doing these guys really reminds me that I have to put some more time into my warhammer armies, winter is coming and that is the time me and my friends play most of or warhammer games and yeah I want to have some painted models for that. I am still thinking about adding battle damage to the red armor because it is kinda flat this way.

Keep on happy painting!

State of the hobby and bought some new brushes

Hey guys today a quick update in all the things that are going on on my painting desk.

First of all I have bought new brushes, they are from the army painter and after painting two times with them I can't live without them anymore. I have always painted with the citadel brushes and these are a lot better! First of all they are sharper and longer then the citadel brushes which gives me more control and precision. Also they are triangle formed instead of round and first this feels a little strange but I have to say that it paints better in my hands.

A little update on the army's, I have painted two models a skaven stormvermin and a high elf archer. The pics are made with my phone so the quality isn't that good.

The archer has the same color scheme as my spearman, I am thinking to give him a white feather on his head to add some white to complete the color scheme.

Stormvermin aren't in my 1000 pts list but they will be in any other so I have started painting some of these guys, it is just the same color scheme as all my skaven only the rust effects are a little improved.

And as always happy painting! Korhain

Finshed death master snikch and summer vacation plans

Hey guys, Death master snikch is finished, well he needs still a base anyway. As you can see I painted the swords in an other way then I was talking about last post, The green blades just didn't look right with the whole mini so I went back to "normal metal". If you ever paint poison on weapens like his swords I will give you one tip: make your green(or whatever color you use) mix for the poison with some metal mixed in, this will create the effect that the poison is dropping from the blade and isn't just some green on stripes on the weapon. This is a little thing but It works really good!

I also used an other way for painting the rust on metal areas, instant of just brushing browns on it I build it up with metal/brow mixes and then give it a highlighting/drybrush at the end. About his base, it can take a while before I paint it(you will understand if you read further) but it could be in a week to, I don't know actually ;)

As you can see I wrote something about vacation plans in the post title, well with that I don't mean that I am going to sit in the sun on my lazy ass for six weeks :P. I have arranged that I can do summer work for seven weeks. The only disappointing from this is that I work from nine till six and I don't have a lot time for painting miniatures, yes I do more then that in my evenings :P. So this means that I will update less this summer then regular hope you understand! So if it is quiet for a while here I am not dead just taking my time for the next update.

But we got better news, for the summer I am going to paint some more mini's for my skaven army and after that I will start a new miniature painting project just be patient!

So I want to wish all readers of this post a  great and sunny summer time!
And as always, happy painting!

WIP Death Master Snikch 2

Hey guys, I have painted some more of death master snikch. Because of the finely nice weather here in the Netherlands I don't make real fast progress but I have worked out some more details. I have painted his wrapstone amulet with some osl effects, that thing is just excellent for osl! I have started  painting his swords too, I started with a metal/green base coat so it will look like they are poisoned. This will also help with blending the sculpted poison drops into the swords to complete the effect that they are dropping some poison.

WIP death masters Snikch

Hey guys, I have recently worked on death master snikch as you can see above I did all of his clothing and his skin. To keep the clothing "balanced" I painted some turquoise triangles around his face, if I wouldn't the whole grey clothing would "fall away" against the turquoise cloak, if you get what I mean here :P.

Highlighting his tail is quit a pain that's obvious the reason I only did one highlight there, it is not super hard but just takes a lot of time and the highlights have to blend in to each other around the tail and that is harder then it sounds!

Went shopping and some pics for upcoming projects

Hey guys, yesterday I went to the city and gave some hobby stores a visit, above you can see my loot. I bought some new and old blisters; a goblin shaman, a high elf hero and Sigvald the Magnificent. I also bought some paints from several ranges, this because I want to try out some more paint range because combining them all gives the best result! But there is more, the following photos are from some upcoming projects for the next month. I decide to show them all at once instant of doing individual WIP posts at this stage, so here ya go!

First of all another golden oldie for me, Death Master Snikch this time. After I finished Korhil I saw him undercoated in my hobby space and I knew I was planning to paint him a long time ago. I started with his cloak I wanted to blend from black to turquoise to give it a "magical" look, after all it is the cloak of shadows.

And here are some archers and a great eagle/griffon base coated for my high elves army. As you might know I can paint like three projects at the same time, so my skaven and high elf army's are growing unit by unit and today I liked to paint some High elves.

Happy painting! Korhain

Finished clanrats with spears

So finely a update, I was quite busy last week. And when the vacation finely started i got sick it wasn't real bad but painting while sneezing and blowing your nose isn't a good combination.

So last weeks the progress on the clanrats went quit slowly, today i finished them 29 clanrats and there warlord. Here are the pics:

assembling day

At the start of this weekend i made plans with my friends to do a game night in two weeks. I will be the host. Most times such nights turn into one big battle but I will try to set up a little tournament of a low point cost(something around the 1000-1200 points). while planning that I realized that i still hadn't assemble all the model for my 1000 point list so today I started hit the read more button to see what i have done.

But first something about updates, I will stop with weekly updates and update.. whenever i want that! Now i can give more updates a week or hold it quite for a longer time, that will fit better into my life and most times i do things in one day(just like today) and when the work is done i can post it immediately.

more clanrats and a first amount of pageviews to celebrate

Not a quite big update today, I finished 5 more clanrats:

And as I said the first amount of pageviews to celebrate, the teller is now on 500 not a real big amount but it is a start! Talking about painting every model i have done till now is tabletop quality but for the next unit I want to go further, i am going to experiment with some techniques and do my highlighting and shading better.

I also bought some random models over time witch i want to paint, painting some else than every day should be good to train your painting skills.

Also I want to give the blog a little more personalty so expect a change in the layout soon.

WIP plague priest and 1000 pts skaven list

I haven't paint a lot this week, did some washing on the spearman and painted their eyes. Also i started painting my plague priest who will be the general in my 1000 pts list. First i allays used a warlock engineer but plague magic is better than ruin magic in my opinion and a T5 hero with a lot of S4 attacks is also very useful in combat.
pics:

As you can see only the base need to be done and this guy is finished.

Slaves!!

I finely finished a whole unit of....62 point. But a skaven army without slaves is something like 40K without space marines ;) The colours are real simple and these guys are just painted on tabletop because there are so much of them! i added some rust effects to give the unit some more detail there aren't little dimoria's or multiple bases but when the unit will grown bigger(I am sure it will) they will be added.

Finished skaven warplighting cannon

The WLC is finely finished, i changed the color of the wood with some dry-brushing and washing at some places so it doesn't looks like one massive thing. Also when i put the crew on the WLC it got a little too busy in the back. so the 3th  crewrat will get a base for his self.

more pics and a close ups form the crew after the read more button..

So 3 weeks later and still no update... i am ashamed of myself..

I made some progress on the clanrats and i finished a 50 point unit of 14 giant rats and a packmasters also i did the mastermoulder from the iob that i am going to use as a warlock engineer until i have a painted one.

WIP clanrats /spears

Some clanrats!

the first 5.. and believe me a lot will follow, i promised myself to paint at least 20 clanrats before starting with the screaming bell(bell without clanrats to push doesn't make sens ..does it?)

WIP warplighting cannon

There is no skaven army without some nasty and cool warpstone wonder weapons and so is mine,
this is my warplighting cannon the painting of it and the bases is done only the crew need te be done, but i still need to build and undercoat these lads so the will follow later.

Finished skaven warlord

This is my warlord, he proposes for "Warlord Gnawdwell" the great leader of clan Mors.
